California is the largest exotic-car market in the country — and one of the most regulated. Buying out of state can widen your choice dramatically, but the deal has to be structured with California rules in mind from day one. That is exactly what we do.
- Transit from Miami
- 5–7 days
- Enclosed transport
- typically $2,500–$4,000 enclosed
- Coverage
- Door to door, insured
Miami to Los Angeles or the Bay Area is about 2,700–3,100 miles. Enclosed transport is the only kind we book for exotic and luxury vehicles — insured, door to door.
Taxes and fees in California
California applies use tax when you register a vehicle purchased out of state — the statewide base rate is 7.25%, and district add-ons in cities like Los Angeles bring the effective rate higher. You pay California, not Florida: as an out-of-state buyer you are exempt from Florida sales tax when the car is shipped to you by carrier.
Expect the DMV to collect use tax, title, and registration fees together when you register. Your written quote from us itemizes the estimated total for your county before you commit.
Registration and inspections
The critical California rule: a car with fewer than 7,500 miles on the odometer must be California-certified (CARB-compliant) to be registered as new. Most late-model exotics sold nationwide carry 50-state emissions certification, but we verify the underhood emissions label on every candidate car before you commit — not after.
Used vehicles over 7,500 miles register normally: smog check (most gasoline cars), VIN verification, then title and plates through the DMV.
Rates and procedures are stated as of publication and can change at the state or county level — your written quote is prepared against current rules for your county before you commit.
Common questions — California
Do I pay Florida sales tax if I buy from Miami?
No — when the car ships to California by carrier, Florida sales tax does not apply. You pay California use tax when registering. We put the full number in your written quote.
Can I register a nearly-new exotic in California?
Only if it is CARB-compliant or has 7,500+ miles. We check the emissions certification on every candidate before you commit a dollar.
